Engineering Steel Bar
Atlas imports, processes and distributes a range of engineering steels in the form of bar and wire products through the Atlas Specialty Metals business. Atlas undertakes primary processing (heat treatment, cold drawn, hot rolled, peeled) of high-speed wire and bar products at its specialty steels bar and wire mill and secondary processing (cut to length) at its various distribution centres. Atlas sources the bar product locally and overseas.
Engineering steels are most commonly sold to engineering and general machine shops which manufacture component parts for the automotive, mining and mineral processing industries. Parts include shafts, axles, forgings and bushings.
